Source Press TV – A mass shooting in the US state of Ohio has left seven family members dead, according to local reports.
The mass murder occurred Friday at a home in the city of Peebles, around 70 miles (113 km) east of Cincinnati.
The victims are all believed to be members of the same family, according to WCPO 9 Cincinnati, citing the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
“The mail carrier told me there’s something seriously bad going on up the road,” local resident Goldie Holderbran told WCPO. “I’m on the other side of [highway] 32 on Union Hill Road. I’m not very far.”
The shooter was still active on Friday morning with police conducting a manhunt.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has put the total number of domestic gun deaths at 1.5 million between 1968 and 2014.
Firearms are the cause of death for more than 33,000 people in the United States every year, a number that includes accidental discharge, murder, and suicides, according to the CDC.
